Course Description: Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) applies to any employees who are exposed to hazardous substances and who are engaged in several operations including clean-up, treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste. Workers involved in an emergency response operation dealing with hazardous waste and workers who perform duties at waste sites where hazardous contamination are also expected to be fully trained and protected. Curriculum includes presentation skills, Global Outreach Training Program administration, materials development, course facilitation, effective instructional approaches, and conducting hands-on exercises. Special emphasis is placed on the mandatory safety and health topics required in the #100 and #200 courses; Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Ladders and Stairways, Electrical Hazards, Tool Safety, Caught In or Between Hazards, Struck-By Hazards, and Health Hazards. Additional topics include safety and health management systems and local requirements for safety and health compliance. Upon successful completion, the participant will be awarded status as a Global OSHA Authorized Trainer, receive a Global OSHA trainer card, and be issued a Global OSHA digital badge. This status enables the trainers to conduct introductory and intermediate level construction worker safety classes through the Global OSHA Outreach Training Program, and request course completion cards for students.
